ADVOCACY

Advocacy Image

Concern: Students on our campus faced the challenge of limited food options, making it clear that greater variety and accessibility were needed to better support our community’s well-being.

Action: We actively voiced student concerns to the executive directors, specifically highlighting the challenge of limited food options on campus, to ensure your needs were heard and addressed at the highest level of decision-making.

Result: Over the summer, the kiosk was brought to life to give our campus a lasting space for food. Before it was built, we made sure to meet your needs by bringing in a food truck, ensuring no one went without. This was just the beginning of creating a place where our community can come together and grow stronger.

Concern: Residence was not established as a permanent stop for the campus shuttle, which created challenges for students who relied on it as a consistent and reliable means of transportation.

Action: We held a meeting with the executive directors and the provost to bring forward student concerns, share feedback, and advocate for meaningful changes that reflect the needs of our campus community.

Result: Starting with the new school year, Residence has officially been added as a permanent stop on the campus shuttle route, providing students with more reliable and convenient access to transportation and making day-to-day campus life a little easier for everyone.

Concern: Students have raised concerns that the prices of items at the kiosk are noticeably overpriced, creating an added challenge for many who rely on it as one of the few food options available on campus.

Action: We are currently in the process of scheduling a meeting with Mike Kelloway, the Manager of Ancillary Services, to discuss student concerns and explore ways to improve the services and resources available on campus.
